Opening predictions
Well folks, I finally got my crystal ball back from the shop, so it’s time to talk opening day. Snow showers through the day Sunday have given us a good start and we may see up to 1-2” down by Monday morning. That will really set the table for the next storm on Tuesday. Current predictions are 4-8” followed by cold nighttime temperatures. An ideal scenario.
Typically we need around 6” of snow down to contemplate opening the trails. New snow requires a few laps on the snowmobile to knock the air out of it. Usually we have to wait a day or so after that to take a grooming implement/drag/device/doohickey out on the trails to lay down some of that beautiful corduroy you’ve been dreaming about all summer. Reminder that you will not see any classic track for the first portion of the season until we can establish a firm base with enough snow depth to be able to use the larger machinery out on the trails.
To recap, it’s going to snow! Hopefully a lot. High probability that we can open some trails later this week, most likely Wednesday. It’s going to be awesome.
Welcome back to winter!
