Waterville Valley for Non-Skiers: Cozy, Scenic, and Fun!
So, you’ve found yourself in Waterville this winter. Your friends and family are up on the mountain enjoying the slopes—but alpine skiing isn’t your cup of tea. No worries! Waterville Valley offers plenty to see and do beyond the mountain, making it easy to stay active, relaxed, and fully enjoy your winter getaway, even without a lift ticket.
NORDIC CENTER
The Waterville Valley Nordic Center offers a variety of winter activities and an extensive trail network for Snowshoeing, Nordic Skiing, and Fat Biking. For those interested in learning something new, Nordic Skiing lessons are available, along with trail passes, rentals, retail offerings, and more. If downhill skiing isn’t your speed, Nordic skiing provides a more relaxed way to enjoy winter, allowing you to take in the snowy landscape as you glide through town or venture onto longer, wooded trails. The trail system features a wide range of terrain, from beginner-friendly teaching areas to more challenging black diamond routes.
There are countless ways to get outside and experience the magic of winter in Waterville. The Nordic Center maintains several trails designated specifically for fat biking, while all Nordic trails are open to snowshoers. With more than 70 kilometers of trails to explore, you’ll find yourself immersed in the heart of the White Mountains, surrounded by stunning views of the nearby peaks.
Rentals for both fat biking and snowshoeing are available at the Nordic Center. Snowshoers are able to explore wherever the trails take you, making every outing a unique adventure. As for Fat Biking, certain trails are designated for bike use, so be sure to refer to the Nordic Center website and trail map for which trails are available to you on your ride. Our team working at the Nordic Center is happy to answer all questions you may have before your journey begins.
Après Isn’t Just for Skiers
Just because you aren’t carving turns on the mountain, that doesn’t mean there isn’t fun to be had! The resort offers a few spots where you can meet up with friends and family once their day on the slopes wraps up.
The Freestyle Lounge, open daily from 11am-6pm provides a great après atmosphere, with a wide selection of drinks and bar food, as well as occassional live music! Refer to the event calendar to see when we will be hosting live music in Freestyle.
Open during weekends and vacation weeks, T-Bars is located conveniently at the base of Valley Run. T-Bars is a classic, New England ski tavern offering elevated pub fare. Both are great places to meet up with your friends and family after they’ve had a long day on the mountain. Additionally, don’t miss out on a waffle from the Waffle Cabin!

Town Square has lots to offer for anyone not interested in skiing or riding. From locally crafted treasures to one-of-a-kind gifts and must-have finds, Waterville Valley’s Town Square offers a delightful mix of shopping and entertainment.
