Waterville Valley Breaks Ground on New Outdoor Adventure Zone
Waterville Valley Resort has officially broken ground on its new Outdoor Adventure Zone, marking a major step forward in the development of a new year-round recreation destination in the heart of Waterville Valley!
Located at 135 Valley Road near Corcoran Pond, the Outdoor Adventure Zone will bring together an 18-hole mini golf course, reconfigurable adventure maze, three-tier aerial adventure course, indoor and outdoor tyke areas, and a new three-story Adventure & Nordic Center. The project is currently targeting Spring 2027 for completion.
With construction now underway, the first piece of the Adventure Zone is already taking shape. Construction of the new 18-hole mini golf course has been completed, establishing the footprint for an accessible, family-friendly experience that will wind through the Adventure Zone with landscaping and water features incorporated throughout the course.
Attention has now shifted to preparing the foundation for the next phase of the project. Crews are actively completing concrete and foundation work for the new Adventure & Nordic Center and surrounding attractions, setting the stage for the larger structures and adventure experiences that will begin rising from the site.
A New Way to Play in Waterville Valley
Waterville Valley has long been a destination built around outdoor recreation. The Outdoor Adventure Zone represents the next step in expanding that experience, creating new opportunities for families to play, explore, and spend time together beyond the winter season.
At the center of the project will be a new three-story Adventure & Nordic Center, creating a year-round home base for recreation in the Valley. The building will bring activity check-in, Nordic and mountain-bike operations, guest services, retail, food and beverage, and additional recreation space together under one roof.
Outside, guests will find experiences designed for a wide range of ages and abilities.
The new Adventure Maze will stand nearly 12 feet tall and span more than 60 feet in each direction. Guests will navigate twists and turns while searching for four checkpoints, with two elevated viewing platforms offering a different perspective from within the maze. Its reconfigurable design will allow the layout to change throughout the year, introducing new routes and challenges for returning visitors.
Adventure will also move above the ground with a three-tier aerial adventure course. Rising approximately 12 feet between levels, the Sky Trail will feature elevated challenges including a rolling log, Roller Rail, five Sky Rails, Walk the Plank, and additional elements for guests to navigate as they make their way through the course.
Younger adventurers will have experiences built especially for them. An outdoor Sky Tykes course, positioned just 2 feet 8 inches above the ground, will introduce children to aerial adventure through kid-sized obstacles and elements. An additional indoor play area inside the Adventure & Nordic Center will provide even more opportunities for younger guests to climb, explore, and play.
Building a Four-Season Waterville Valley
The Outdoor Adventure Zone is designed to create more ways for guests and residents to experience Waterville Valley throughout the year while further establishing the Corcoran Pond area as a hub for recreation and gathering.
The project also supports the Town of Waterville Valley’s master plan for the Corcoran Pond area, expanding family-friendly recreational opportunities while helping strengthen year-round tourism and contribute to the long-term economic vitality of the community.
With mini golf construction complete and foundation work underway, the coming months will bring some of the most visible changes yet as the Adventure Zone begins to rise from the ground.
