With the fresh snow, we’ll be out in full-force packing trails on both ends of the system. So grab some wider skis and get out there and enjoy the snow! I’m now hearing we may see up to 7” of the good stuff. Let the good times roll.
As the weather seems to be trending a little warmer, here’s your friendly reminder to check on your skis. If your ski bases are starting to whiten, it might be time for a hot wax. As the temperatures climb to freezing and above, new snow can become as sticky as molasses. A well-hydrated set of skis, plus a little Swix Universal F4 Wax in your pocket as backup are the tools for keeping the snow off your skis and on the trails where it belongs. Even that “waxless” ski still needs glide wax. The waxless moniker is only referring to fischscale or skin section not needing grip/kick wax to move down the trail.
While we’re on the gear train, respect your zippers! I can’t tell you how many times I see people yank and pull on zippers like they’re invincible. Take the time to line up the sides and pull gently in the direction of the zipper. It also never hurts to lubricate a zipper, especially if you put your boots away with salty snow on them that can cause corrosion. Silicone spray is a great product for keeping your zippers operating smoothly.
Get out there,
Ian
