THURSDAY - MARCH 3RD
Diary posts are written the night before with the projected conditions. Updates will be added the following morning if conditions or grooming plans change.
Thursday 3/3/22
Morning Update: It snowed 3-4” early this morning. So please check the trail list carefully and look for the little machine icon next to what was re-groomed after the new snow. Moose Run, Wicked Easy, Lower Osceola, Livermore Road, and Upper Snows were all the most recent grooming on the North End. The South End was groomed during/after most of the snow fell so it has less on top overall. Cascade Brook is now fully open, Upper Criterion (except Jnct 52 to the Golf Course) is open and groomed one width with no set track, Upper Fletchers is now open. Start faking a cough now and leave by lunchtime, you are going to want to be here. Conditions should remain excellent through Saturday.
Update to the update: Outer Mad River is now open. We made an attempt at Jennings Peak and it’s not quite there yet, maybe if enough snow blows around tonight we can try again on Friday. Use caution on the hill on Inner Mad River after you cross the bridges from Village Trail. The icy/wet seep continues to be active and is currently about 20 feet long of manageable slush.
It looks like we’re in for another night of new snow right during our grooming timeframe. I’m kicking myself for saying this, but hopefully it’s only an inch or so to help keep things we’ve groomed in good shape. There’s a good chance we can open Upper Fletchers and Upper Criterion by mid-morning on Thursday. Cascade Brook is now 100% open.
Enjoy,
Ian
