NASTAR, (National Standard Race), offers recreational racing with a giant slalom format. The course is open to the public and is designed for skiers and riders of all ages and abilities. Participants who score within an appropriate percent of the pacesetter time will win a platinum, gold, silver or bronze medal, right at the finish! It's a great way to test and improve your skills, and wage some friendly competition on the slopes. Compare your scores and national ranking, for your age group, with those of other racers throughout the country, by going online to www.nastar.com. Family and friends, ski shops and ski clubs can also compete as teams by registering in those categories.

The Waterville course is located on the Lower Utter Abandon trail. Register to race at our desk on the first floor of the base lodge each race day between 10am and 12pm. We can also sign you up right at the starting gate once the race is underway.

Team Waterville

On Mondays, Team Waterville league racing is held as a 9 week series of "locals" competition that kicks off in early January. The course location and format changes each week. Teams consist of 7 racers and a Nastar style handicap system ranks all the days racers and awards scores to the teams via teams best 5 racers of the day. Individual times are also kept and posted. Races are between 11:30 and 2:30. There is a Monday race day lift ticket offered to registered Team Waterville participants for $20, valid only on Team Waterville race days and is not transferable.

At 4:00 on race day Mondays there is an Après race party at local establishments sponsored by Coors Light. Specials and light fare are offered. Team race results and individual race results are posted during the Après race parties. Prizes and raffles are also offered by Coors Light and local establishments.

Cost for a team of 7 is $250
Cost for an individual is $40

About The Mountain Taster Ride

After check-in at the Town Square, guests will drive to and park at Livermore parking area and walk around to the base of Tripoli Road to meet the guides and dog teams. Following a question and answer period, the guides will get guests loaded in the sled, and then dogs, guests, and musher will be off and running!  The trail ascends to Osceola Campground for moonlit mountain vistas and then loops back for the excitement and thrill of the downhill back to the staging area. This run is just under two miles.

$65 per person  Entire experience is approximately 25-35 minutes. (2 miles)

Single riders only. Maximum weight per sled is 200 pounds.Minimum age is 7 years.

Ages 12+ : single riders only. $65.

Ages 7-11: if riding single $65 (adult rider must be booked on another single sled).

Ages 7-11: if riding double $80.

Up to 3 sleds available.


Schedule

Friday and Saturday Evenings from late December to mid March (or as Mother Nature allows), beginning around December 18. Ride schedule subject to change depending on snow and weather conditions.

Excursions at 5:00, 5:45, 6:30 (7:15 ride may be scheduled once others are full.)

Deposits and Cancellations

Full payment is due at the time of booking. If guest cancels a ride more than 72 hours prior to ride, deposit is refunded less a $15 cancellation fee. No fee will be charged for rides that are rescheduled more than 72 hours prior to ride. If guest cancels a ride less than 72 hours prior to ride, deposit is forfeited in entirety. Weather-related cancellations made by the guide will result in full refund of deposit.

The Waterville Valley Ice Arena is located at the center of activity in the Town Square complex on the shores of Corcoran's Pond. The Ice Arena offers numerous public skating and stick and puck sessions throughout the week. Rental skates and skate sharpening services are available. The Arena is home to the NH Ice Cats Junior Hockey Club and hosts many youth hockey tournaments and camps. Private ice rentals are available upon request. Tubing in the Valley is better than ever! On the hill adjacent to the Waterville Valley Golf Course are multiple dedicated tubing lanes, complete with a warming center. Guests of all ages can participate, but children must be at least 42 inches tall to tube alone. The tubing hill is walk-up (not lift serviced). Dress appropriately, warm clothing, including gloves and winter footwear are advised. For everyone’s safety, ski and other hard shell boots are not permitted. Have fun!
