Send Off Summer In Waterville Valley

It’s hard to believe that school is already back in session and Labor Day Weekend is here. It’s already starting to feel a little bit like fall here in Waterville Valley with the crisp, cool nights and believe it or not the leaves are already starting to change. We’re certainly looking forward to seeing the Valley covered in vibrant shades of red, orange, and yellow and those colorful autumn sunsets.

Before we get too ahead of ourselves, we still have one weekend of summer left! Temperatures are forecasted to be comfortable and in the mid-60s with partly cloudy skies making for perfect hiking weather. The nights will be cool and Monday is showing a chance of rain, so don’t forget to pack a sweatshirt and rain jacket. We experienced some heavy rain yesterday which may have created some wet spots on hiking and mountain bike trails. If you’re biking the muddy spots tend to be on the upper half section of Lower Snow’s, the middle portion of Swans Way, and on Figure 3.

In store for the long weekend we have the End of Summer Bash, Black Bear Half Marathon, 5k, & Fun Run, a movie night, and live music. You can still sign up for the Black Bear Half Marathon events which will take place on Saturday. Not quite ready to run a race? That’s okay! The Fun Run will be a great way to get outside and enjoy our trails with both family and friends. If you happen to be wandering around town, don’t forget to cheer on the racers as they pass by!

On Sunday we’ll have our annual End of Summer Bash featuring children’s games, a frozen t-shirt contest, duck race, live music, fireworks and more! Rubber Ducks for the duck race can be purchased in the Mercantile, Town Square Condos, Bookmonger, and Dreams & Visions. All proceeds will benefit the Pemi Bridge House.

We’ll also have our full lineup of activities at the Adventure Center. Hit the trails on a mountain bike, play a round of disc golf, or take the lift up Snow’s Mountain and enjoy the views. If you’re looking for a more unique Waterville Valley experience, take a Onewheel or ResortBoard tour. Please note that beginning September 3rd the Snow’s Mountain lift will be operating on weekends only.
