Clearing Up and Drying Out

After a wet May we are now into June here at Waterville Valley and summer is taking over. The green is popping from the forest floor to the canopy above and wildflowers are in bloom. All the snow is gone and the trail conditions are improving with each passing day. Most hiking trails are in really good condition but keep in mind the rain we’ve had has created some mud in low spots and on lesser maintained trails (while also making for some awesome waterfall action.) River crossings have been running a little high so keep that in mind while you plan your hikes and bring appropriate footwear.

Biking has been great and with it still being early in the season it is very easy to get out there and find some solitude. If you’re just pulling the bike out of storage be sure to bring it in to our Adventure Center bike shop so our expert mechanic can take a look and tune it up before you start charging hard for the summer. For lift serviced biking Snow’s Mountain lift is running on the weekends for now, but we’ll switch to full time summer operations around mid-month.

Weekend Events & Activities

For this weekend we have our full fleet of hardtail, full-suspension, tandem, road, and fat bikes available to rent at the Adventure Center. All of our bikes are available for sale if you are looking for an upgrade. Snow’s Mountain lift will run Saturday and Sunday 10:00 am to 3:45 pm. Disc golf is open and is a great way for anyone to get some exercise and experience the outdoors. If you don’t have your own discs they are available for rent.

Looking forward our next event is the “Casting for Kirby” Youth Fishing Derby next weekend on June 15th. The pond is full again and they are going to stock some whoppers in there so it should be a great day for the kids to experience fishing.

We’ll see you up here!
