Trailside Warming Hut

Yurts are modern adaptions of the ancient shelter used by nomadic tribesman of Mongolia and Central Asia. Their ingenious aerodynamic and weathertight design makes them excellent for snowy environments and they blend well with the surrounding landscape.

Bert's Yurt is located on the North End of our trail system, about 1 kilometer from the Depot Camp parking lot via Lower Oceola Trail to Bob's Lookout Trail. Bob's Lookout provides outstanding view of the peaks surrounding Waterville Valley: Osceola, Tecumseh and the Tripyramids. Bob's Lookout is part of the Osceola Vista campground (summer only) and has picnic tables and 'pit' toilet facilities.

Bert's Yurt is open daily for skiers and snowshoers to get out of the weather and enjoy a picnic lunch.

On Saturdays and Holiday's, Bert will be serving hot and cold drinks, snacks, and Whitey's Famous Chili. The yurt will also be heated during these times.

Hours:

Daily: Open for warming & shelter from the cold
Saturday: Serving refreshments from 10:30a.m.–3:00p.m.
