Volcom's PB& Rail Jam Waterville Valley Results

For the first time in PB&RJ’s long history here at Waterville the skies were blue and sunny! With over 170 riders the day got underway with the 15 and Under Division being unmerciful on the rails! The inspiration may have come from the weather, or perhaps it was due to lots of practice. Seriously, the kids were on fire and showing everyone how to get the job done! volcom2

The 16 and Over Division attacked the custom PB&RJ zone complete with an escalator rail, down rail and down box. Our heads were spinning because the kids were spinning in and spinning out of every trick imaginable. Anyways, switch nollie back lips, smooth back tails and a huge helping of style had the judges scrambling to keep up!

Next it was the girls’ chance to turn it on and make some magic happen. They were throwing down smooth back lipslides and switch front boards. The ladies were pushing the limits on a regular basis and making their riding stand out more and more as a result! During lunch there was some custom PB&J sandwiches made complete with Oreos, Doritos, cheesy poofs and of course strawberry jam all on 2 pieces of white bread. Volcom’s Jeff Arnold, Jared King and Brando were helping the youth get creative with their lunch, which was the other highlight of the volcom1 day…besides the rail slaying.

The contest wrapped up with the Open Division unwrapping their bag of tricks and aggressively assaulting the three PB&RJ features! These guys weren’t messing around and we were having a hard time keeping up as the action was coming fast and furious with all features being attacked simultaneously! One thing was clear; there would be no clear winners until scores were tallied.

The awards ceremony was tense as the winners were announced. With the top five from each division receiving an invite to the PB&RJ finals at sunny Mammoth Mountain California at the end of April for a chance to win some serious dollars.
