WV Skatecamp 2010Registration for the 2010 summer skatecamp is over and so is camp for this year. We will be back next summer so stay tuned and keep skating!
The Waterville Valley Skate Camp (WVSC) is gearing up for its 8th year as the premiere overnight skate board camp in the East. Seven 5- night sessions are available for all ability levels from June 27 – Aug 13. Camps run Sunday night through Friday afternoon and each are sponsored by a different skate company including Oakley, Eastern Boarder, Volcom, Creep Show, Red Bull and Emerica. Six 2-day sessions also start up the weekend of July 2. There’s even a day camp option.
The WV Skate Park had a major overhaul last summer and this summer will be no different. We plan on building a few new features to add to the mix. Also with the newly finished indoor mini ramp up at the Mountain the days at skate camp are sure to be awesome. Our weekly skate park tour will still be on Thursdays and we will be stopping by Eastern Boarder Nashua as well. For alternative activities, campers also get to mountain bike, hike, swim, boat, play golf and tennis, all offered within the resort of Waterville Valley.
Overnight WVSC Camps
WVSC includes round-the-clock supervision for boys and girls 12- 18 (8 – 18 for day campers), coaching from our professional skateboard staff, all meals, lodging, alternative activities and a WVSC T-shirt. WVSC operates with a one-to-six staff to camper ratio ensuring personalized instruction and supervision. Overnight campers stay in Waterville Valley’s Town Square Condominiums, located across from WV Skate Park. Transportation to camp from Manchester airport can be arranged at an additional cost.
Before March 31, overnight sessions are $625/$675 after the 31st. Weekend sessions are $275/$300 respectfully. the smoke has cleared, the dust has settled and the damage bill has been assessed on the 10th annual fall brawl. and what can be said other then wow? the boston snow sports show had no idea what was about to happen as the areas best skaters rolled their way into the expo center to the waterville valley street course and mini ramp. laser flips, blunt fakie wall rides, airwalks, bigspin boardslides, transfer gaps, all present and accounted for from the likes some of the east coast's best like manny santiago, ed driscol, dana ericson, dan carrarieo and young gun nolan monroe. in the end someone had to be awarded the splendors of victory and our judges lead by head judge and east coast pro skate extraordinaire charlie wilkins assessed the action. in the grom under 15 division brett pagoda stood atop the podium with rafael pereira and eamon samosia by his sides. in the pro division oakley team rider and all around wild style character manny santiago took top honors and $1000 bucks home. however the second place finisher dan carrarieo was no ordinary second placer, wowing the entire boston area with his transfers and construction hard hat style. third place was so tight there was a tie between perennial fall brawler ed driscol and our man from south of the boarder victor vidal.
speaking of ridiculous skaters, oakley brought out some talent to skate, sign autographs, and kick it with the crowd. skateboarding legend god chris senn along with smoking dave bachinsky, fall rawl winner manny santiago, and young buck will marshal were all there to attend fall brawl and then move to the after party we were all so lucky to see the east coast premier of oakley's new movie our life… all capped off with the boys from porsches on the autobahn who preformed arguably the best show i have ever seen!
the 10th anniversary of fall brawl was no let down, from the skating to the premier, it was top notch all the way. big thanks to oakley for bringing the big guns and the movie, big thanks to red bull for bringing the party and big thanks again to oakley and red bull as well as 5boro, dc, volcom, waterville valley, loon and cranmore for their support of the event.
