Sunday

Good Morning!

It's looking like it's going to be a great day of spring skiing up here. Cool now (just below freezing) and temps are headed into the 40's by the mid-late afternoon, so ski early!

The North End was groomed last night and the South End groom is finishing up this morning--expect to the the Cat down here if you're out first thing. The quote from the groomer about the conditions this morning is that "most look like mid-Feb, some like mid-April." And that's the story. There are feet of snow on the bridges (and trails) with some sun exposed and wet areas that remind us we are officially weeks into spring.

The snowpack keep us skiing for who know how long-- long enough to plan on grooming next weekend. We may not have the Cat on the South End (maybe...), but expect much of the North End to be open and groomed!

If you just can't ski one more time this year, please do your skis a favor and put storage wax on them for the summer. We have wax left if you're a DIYer, and passholders have us put it on for $5. Those of you who aren't passholders should just get a pass and then get the wax special, otherwise we charge you extra ;)

While you're in the shop, pick up a jacket or pants for hiking, biking or skiing next year at end of season prices. We also restocked our roller skis and have two pairs of skate WoodSki roller skis at 30% This means you can get on these great performing dryland training tools for right around $202!

See you up here,

Leah

2017/18 Season Passes are on sale--buy your pass now and ski with it for ANOTHER WEEKof this season (new passholders).

A little warm overnight

Good Morning,

It's dropped below freezing, we're let trails dry and will be out on them this through the morning, grooming up as many trails as we can. As I wrote yesterday, the plan is for a partial groom today and a full groom tomorrow (lower temps today and then actually a bit cold! overnight).

Today,  theCat will head down to the South End via Swans. Swans is still in good shape except for some brown on the powerline hill closer to the Pipeline jct. South End core trails will be groomed--more if time allows. Expect the North End trails to be done by mid-morning: Livermore to Upper Snows, and the Tripoli/Osceola side (Tripoli road it's self won't get groomed until tomorrow).

So, if you're headed out first thing, watch for follow the cordury. Ungroomed trails have actually been skiing pretty nicely, but use care not that we have some sub freezing temps. We have gotten close to an inch of snow, so enjoy.

In case you missed the announcement, we will be re-opening for the weekend of the 15th&16th! An extra week to the ski season, hurrah!

See you up here,

Leah

Closing Weekend April 15th & 16th

That's Right, an Extra weekend!

The last few days have actually had some great skiing. Definitely not always ideal (some crust-ice, slush, chunk, slow mush, rain and amazing moments of silky glide in between). But, there's enough snow out there that even with warm weather heading our way next week, we'll re-open like the alpine hill and groom for one more weekend!

We're getting some light precip today and we are again ungroomed, but as long as you're not expecting perfect corduroy, skiing is still fun and coverage good. The wind that came through will have us out cleaning up trails (throw a stick or two off the trail if you're in the mood).

It's still looking promising for a Cat groom tomorrow morning. We probably won't have time to do the whole system in the short window of freezing temps, but looks like between the two days (Sat & Sun) we should get most everything groomed for the final days of the season.

This weekend we'll be running a passholder storage wax special of $5 and now that we're staying open an extra weekend, we can extend this special.

I'll post this through the weekend too, but WoodSki RollerSkis are 30% off and we have two left in stock. This might be the last we see of WoodSki for a little while, so don't miss the chance to set yourself up for dryland training!

See you up here,

Weekend Outlook

Let's talk about the weekend, because I don't really want to talk about today and tomorrow, but I will: looks like a couple days of mixed & wet precip. We'll buzz around with the snowmobile a bit this morning, but will be mostly ungroomed through the next two days.

The weekend however is looking like it will make for a good send off of this great season of skiing.

We will do our best to get the Cat out and groom a good portion of the trails for both Saturday and Sunday morning. The temps will be below freezing a bit and then pretty warm both days, so we should get a little more great spring skiing in.

There is still a ton of snow up on our trails (layers and layers)! We also have a great sale going on--Yes, I'm still plugging. I'd much rather you pack it away for the winter! And why not, most of sale items just reflect color or graphic changes!

False Alarm

Whoops, the snow remained soft overnight. I repeat, there is no glaze. The base underneath is still mostly firm with 1-3 inches of wet snow on top. Should be an amazing day of Spring skiing. Come on up and enjoy the warm temps. Snowmobile grooming will be limited to just a few South End trails due to the soft conditions. Skiing will be just as good if not better on ungroomed trails today.

Cheers

Glazed

Good Morning,

The temps dropped very fast this morning and though conditions were too warm and wet throughout the night, we are now below freezing.

Please use care, metal edge skis or snowshoes if you're headed out first thing this morning! It will be softer by mid-day. We will be taking the snowmobile out this morning to see if it can groom the bit of slush/snow that fell yesterday.

Otherwise make the most of the day.

Hmmm...

Your guess is as good as mine. Snow is coming down. If it's still below freezing when it stops, we'll groom it up pretty. Otherwise, enjoy ungroomed fresh snow!

The rest of the week is a bit unknown as well. We will stay open until through the 9th and hopefully get in some more skiing!

Cheers to all of you who made it out yesterday--was great to see and hear from so many people having an excellent time on soft, fresh (mush as it warmed up)trails and enjoying the sunshine, thanks for all the pics!

Today will be another lovely day, though we are entirely ungroomed. This means that classic track is still set and in good shape from yesterday's groom, but the skate lanes will be pretty challenging (aka choppy) until mid day, when they'll be challenging for another reason. But if you can ski today then you should : )

The rest of the week looks a bit unknown, with snow and mixed precip in the forecast. Plenty of to ski, just be prepared for "variable" conditions.
